RESIDENCE Montecito, California |
Completed in 1990 this home was set amongst the native oaks and staged to take advantage of the spectacular ocean views. Organized around a courtyard and pool to the south, the house is composed of simple hip-roofed forms and simple detailing. The major axis connects the living room pool and poolhouse to the south with a second axis oriented to the ocean view to the southwest. The entrance was set at grade on this steep hillside lot to allow the house to become more a part of the oak woodland. This in turn allowed the opportunity to be outdoors at pool and garden level while still capturing the views through the majestic oaks.
